Prof. Peter Ragaert

Professor of Food Packaging Technology. He earned a degree in chemical engineering from Ghent University in Belgium in 2001, followed by a doctorate on the shelf life and packaging of fruits and vegetables in 2005. Staying in the packaging industry, he took a leadership position in the Pack4Food organization, which he now heads with An Vermeulen. Through joint research projects, training and networking activities, Pack4Food stimulates innovation in food packaging, with a particular focus on packaging materials in the circular economy.In addition, Peter Ragaert serves as a professor at Ghent University, where his specialization focuses on food packaging technology, with a particular emphasis on biopolymers and compostable plastics. His research focuses on linking different compositions and functionalizations of packaging materials to the shelf life of food products.
